My best friend and I knew that taking great weekend vacations in a different city is not complete if we would not be able to indulge in what food or cuisine that particular destination is famous for. One weekend, in our planned girl-pal bonding activity, we decided it best to go restaurant- hopping in Santa Barbara. Well, Santa Barbara restaurants definitely boast a variety of food-loving spots that just made our taste buds pop.
The name itself is just interesting and so we made it sure to enter the Palace Grill. It can be seen at 8 East Cota Street just between Fig Avenue and East Ortega Street. We had our lunch there and just made my mouth full with awesome tasting delights. I love seafood so I ordered this dish named the New Orleans Pan Barbeque Shrimp. It just did not stop my taste buds from rejoicing as I continued on enjoying the really tender prawns swimming in Three Pepper Butter Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Rosemary, and I’m pretty sure the menu says it has Dixie Beer in it. The Pecan Chicken Picatta served on my friend’s hot plate is a sumptuous combination of chicken breast, cooked to perfection with Creole Lemon Butter Caper Sauce. It is open seven days a week so we are sure, we will go back and splurge some more.
Three minutes away from The Palace Grill, we took the Anacapa St. and State Street route to reach Eladio’s Restaurant. Right at number 8 East Cota Street, we found the restaurant we wanted to try, even right after we finished our meal at the first place. It has a nice vibe to it because they have a nice patio and some waiters that are attending to us are just so pleasant and cute. It’s a very welcome plus, if you ask me. We sat on the edge of the gate of the patio and that felt incredible and very amazing.
After an afternoon of nonstop food indulgence, we decided to go on some girl time at an amazing spa and of course, as dinner came our love for food just went on. Right there on 1325 State Street, our surprising dinner was at Opal Restaurant and Bar. It was a very elegant atmosphere that just feels like we were royalties of the night. I chose to order the local’s favorite, warm seafood salad on fresh baby spinach and gourmet greens. It’s to stay sophisticated and classy when all I wanted to do was devour every bit of the meal. I swear I can imagine how my friend laughed with me when we got home. It’s just a round- the-city road trip that made us feel more connected and our tummies happier than ever.
